Outreach at Maker Faire! September 26-27th
We hosted a booth at the World Maker Faire, which took place at the NY Hall of Science on September 26th-27th. It was a fantastic time! We met many other FIRST teams (FTC, FRC, and FLL), and spoke to so many people that were very interested in STEAM and wanted to explore any opportunities available in these fields. We got to demo our robot on last year’s Cascade Effect field, and had lots of kids drive it to complete the task of depositing balls into the tubes. It was lots of fun- we really hope that we have inspired these kids to join a FIRST team! We encouraged them to join a team, start a team, or if they were adults, to become a mentor or volunteer. The other exhibits at Maker Faire were also absolutely amazing- as always, Maker Faire was not only fun and exciting but very educational, and we talked to business owners and engineers about their projects. One of the highlights of our time at Maker Faire was visiting the Google tent – they had drones! In summation, it was truly a great experience, and we can’t wait for next year’s Maker Faire!
